flexibility
and fulfillment
this is grow a thriving practice podcast
well hello there
beautiful human
I hope you're having an amazing day today
welcome to episode 93
I think I can't believe it
we are climbing up to 100
I feel like I wanna have some sort of Celebration
for a hundred episodes um so hmm
I might be thinking up something
stay tuned for that
I had the most amazing weekend
uh it was one of those perfect summer weekends
and one of the things that was included was
a powerlifting competition down in bend
and I competed with several of my
team women lifters
and oh my gosh
we just had so much fun
it was outdoors
it wasn't too hot
we were setting state records
it was amazing
I set well 3 6
three of my lifts were state records
and then there's a fourth record
that is the total of all those
so that was really great and um
they weren't my best lifts but
um but still
it was wonderful
um and then Saturday night we went out for some music
and Sunday we went for a float down the river
and I got super sunburned haha
but I just have that feeling of complete bliss
like oh my gosh
I lived it up this weekend
so I hope you are living it up as well today
we are talking about not quitting your day job
before you've gotten your practice to a place where
um you're not putting a ton of pressure
on your business for income
so in other words
rushing into full time entrepreneurship
without a solid foundation
it leads to unnecessary stress and financial strain
and I want to bring this to your attention
because your energy and focus
you really want that to be on healing others
on helping others
serving others
and not worrying about making ends meet
now I've seen about
I think about one or two of my clients
they quit their jobs
their day jobs um
before they were ready financially and it
while they were very resourceful and could make it work
I think they caused themselves some unnecessary stress
in the process
so we don't wanna do that
and I don't know if anybody out there is
is telling you that um but
or you may have heard it before
but you think
well now I'm super excited about this
and I get it I get it
it's so tempting to take the leap to quit your day job
to go all in on your business
but while it may seem like the ideal path
it can really come with some significant risks
and pressures that may actually hinder your growth
instead of propel it
one of the most valuable assets you have right now
is the stability of your day job
again you might not wanna hear this
but it really does it
it provides a reliable income
that gives you the freedom to invest in your practice
without the desperation to make immediate sales
and when you are coming from a desperate place
and a kind of
like a needy place
when you're um
trying to sell your services
that can be felt on the other end
and I know that that's not where we want
so the financial security of your day job
allows you to market your services
from a place of confidence and authenticity
rather than pushing for those quick results
and you know
I again I get it
you know we get excited about helping people and um
I know the feeling of being so
emotionally done with my day job
and it does seem logical to jump off the cliff
so to speak
I remember um
back in 2,016
is when I dropped onto part time nursing
and I remember walking into my boss's office
one morning to ask if I could go to part time
I had already built a solid
Wednesday evening and Sunday biofield tuning practice
while I was working 40 hours as a nurse
I was booking far enough out
that I felt confident I could drop to two
to two to three
days working as a nurse
and fill up those days with clients
and I was so excited about it
and I built up the courage to ask my boss
and knew that him saying no was a risk
and it was a risk I was willing to take
and had he said no
I would probably quit on the spot
because I was so emotionally done there
I just had no desire
to be a nurse anymore
I was just wanted to go all in
on my bio filled tuning practice
so had he said no
I would have figured it out
and I actually thought it was more likely
that he'd say no over yes
I was gonna jump off that cliff I was
but I was very confident that I could figure it out
and you totally could too
but it is ideal
to not have to hustle for your income
anyway he said yes
and I went part time
while I built my practice even more
until I got to a place where I was booking
far enough out again
that I could go full time
biofilt tuning
no time nursing
so I share this with you
because I think it's really important for you to hear
from someone
that their very successful practice
was not built overnight
and I think so many practitioners have this idea
that once they create their website
and put their online scheduler up
that the clients will start coming
and it really does take more than that um
it takes um
it takes time
it takes strategy um and it
it takes some demand
um so keep your day job for now
and if you are one of those people who maybe
quit your day job
a little too soon
here's what I want you to think about
take the pressure off of your business
to make you money
because when we put that kind of pressure
on our business for income
it really does
mess with our energy
right it's it's no longer fun haha
it feels very stressful
and that's not why we decided to do this right
so if you need to go
find other ways
to make some income
you can get really creative
you know um
I think lift
and Uber are such great resources
for people to work
you know their own
schedule um
there's also
like Instacart
a grocery shopping um
there's dog sitting
pet sitting
house sitting
so lots lots of things you can do um
where you can create your own
schedule and um
free your business from that
that desperate need
to make some income
I know that might seem a little counterintuitive
you're like
well of course
my business
I want my business to make income
and yes you do
but I'm telling you
the pressure of it
it doesn't bode well
for marketing and sales
you then you start marketing and selling
from a place of that
needy graspy
desperate energy
and what we want is
abundant energy
like I have plenty
I am sufficient
um and yeah
we're gonna come from that place
so building a successful practice takes time
and dedication
so let's plan it
strategically
if you're considering going from a
day job to full time
entrepreneurship
with your practice
here are some things to keep in mind
the first thing
learn and adapt
growing your business involves
trying different marketing strategies
and refining your services
based on feedback
and sticking with
your day job
during this learning phase
takes off the pressure
of relying solely on
your business for income
the second thing
financial safety net
before taking the leap
save up enough money to cover your living expenses
for several months or a year
and this really gives you that peace of mind
as you build your client base
the third thing network and connect
building strong connections in your field
and related industries can boost your practice
attend workshops
and engage with peers and potential clients
networking can lead to referrals
and partnerships that help your business grow
so when we talk about networking
I know many people think of
they've got to go to those
you know networking events um
but it's really you don't
I've always networked
without going to networking events
networking is really about meeting other people
who are either in your same industry
or may have interest in your industry
and telling them what you do and how
you can help
and you can do this at the grocery store
you can do it at your kids school
you can do it um
anywhere the gym
what I wanna share about this is networking
don't think about it as only telling people how you do
how you do what you do
what you do
um it's more about listening to others
so if you're networking
and wanting to make some connections
listening is part of that strategy
and it's part of connecting
right so really
asking other people about their lives
about what helps them to feel better you know
listen to what they're saying and ask questions
get to know them more
and naturally
this organic conversation
about how you can help each other will develop
the fourth thing to keep in mind is value
and authenticity
want you to focus on delivering value to your clients
and when I say clients
I mean current clients and future clients
potential clients
you know find ways that you can provide value
hone your skills
enhance your services
and genuinely care about their needs
when you get inspired by some piece of material
that is really connected and related
to what you have to offer
write it down and
and think of some ideas for how you can deliver that
to your clients um
that'll just
even if you don't have clients at the moment
putting your brain in that space will certainly um
create that energy for you to attract
attract clients
attract people who need your help
uh the fifth thing
set realistic goals
establish clear and achievable
short term and long term goals
and celebrate your progress along the way
this is really important
um I do this
I try to do this at least once a week
I don't always do it
but when I do
man it really increases my productivity
so at the end of each week
I ask myself
what are my wins for this week
like what are my little wins
what are my big wins um
and it doesn't have to just be business related for me
like I like
just kind of look at the whole life wheel
okay what did I
what do I want to celebrate
about my progress with my business
what do I want to celebrate with my life um
and so I really think that that's an important practice
because our brains are actually
geared to looking more at the gaps
more at where we lost
or where we failed
or where we're not keeping up in some way
versus looking at our gains and focusing on our wins
so by making this a practice
each and every week
or even every day
you start to redirect your brain to look at progress
and when you look at progress
you wanna make more progress
right and you keep seeing how you are actually growing
and progressing and evolving along the way
the sixth thing
to keep in mind
is to seek support
so don't be afraid to seek advice from experience
practitioners or mentors
or joining an online community
to learn from others experiences
and avoid some common pitfalls
I think that um
especially in this industry
and sound healing
energy medicine
and just like
the healing in general
I think that there's some misperception
that if you're asking for help in some way
that you're not
I don't know
like you're not good enough or um
like we don't
I think we have this tendency
that we don't want others to see our humanness
or our downsides
or where we might be feeling weak
and I swear
the more that we lean on one another
for support
and for advice
and just to hear from other people's experiences
um the stronger we become
not only as like
an individual unit
but also as
a community
as well that's why
in the grow with thriving practice coaching program
one of the key components is community
we have an online community platform
where you can
engage every day
and then we also have monthly um
we call them hive mind calls
where it's a peer support call call
um it's facilitated and guided by myself
but it's just an opportunity to be able to hear from
one another
and they are always so enriching
because there's so many ideas and
you know um
words of wisdom
being passed on
and everybody's just soaking it in
it's amazing
and then the last thing
to keep in mind
when you are wanting to switch
to full time entrepreneurship from a day job
is to be flexible
so know that the business landscape can change
we wanna be adaptable
so try new approaches
adjust your strategies
and yeah just remember that
each practitioner's journey is unique
so one of the things I encourage you not to do
is to look at someone else
and think that that's where you should be
we're all trying to get to the same place
but our paths are gonna look quite different
so some of you might transition really quickly
while others may prefer a nice
gradual approach
and whatever you choose
focus on your well being
and focus on your clients well being
so that you can have a nice stable
strong foundation
for your practice
all right you've got this
I know you do
good luck on your incredible journey
